The Master and Margarita

★★★★☆  book

The Master and Margarita

The Devil descends upon Soviet Moscow with a familiar of chattering disposition, whilst Margarita negotiates her damnation to preserve her lover’s suppressed manuscript. Darkly comic and soaked in sorcerous irreverence, it culminates in its heroine’s transcendent flight above the sleeping city; the apotheosis of the literary witch.

what it left me with

The works worth creating possess an inviolable quality that no apparatus of suppression can permanently efface. Write nonetheless; manuscripts do not burn.

this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
