book review

A woman disintegrates following her husband’s departure, narrated from so far within the collapse that oxygen becomes precious. Ferrante declines to grace the wreckage with nobility or redemption. The result is the most unvarnished account of being left that literature contains.
The collapse isn’t dignified and doesn’t need to be. Survive the unraveling however it comes: without beauty, without restraint. Grace will return, when it is ready, but now there is only the work of enduring.
this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
