The Bloody Chamber
Angela Carter takes the fairy tales you were raised on, all of them quietly bowdlerised before they ever reached you, and restores precisely what was cut: the sex, the teeth, the female appetite. Bluebeard, Beauty and the Beast, Red Riding Hood, each retold on the firm understanding that the girl was never simply the prey.
what it left me with
Return to the story you were handed about who you were meant to become. Observe who authored it, and whom it was designed to keep small. Then tell it again, this time with yourself cast as the wolf.
this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
