The Bell Jar

★★★★☆  book

The Bell Jar

Plath’s only novel, charting a luminous young woman’s unravelling in 1950s New York: a Bildungsroman conducted in reverse. The fig tree, every possible life rotting on the branch because she cannot elect a single one, remains the most quoted passage for good reason.

what it left me with

Indecision is itself a decision, merely one arrived at by default. While you deliberate over the perfect fig, every last one of them falls. Choose one, and grant yourself leave to release the rest.

this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
