tv review

A family presides over a funeral home, and every episode opens with a death: each installment a small memento mori in a premise that sounds funereal and proves to be the most vital meditation on living that television has managed. The closing montage remains the finest ending in the medium. I have no amendments.
Everyone dies; the series’ entire thesis is that this fact is precisely the argument for living now, untidily and without reservation.
this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
