I May Destroy You

Michaela Coel writes, directs and stars in the most incisive thing yet made about consent, memory and recovery after assault, and she refuses, with magnificent obstinacy, every tidy resolution the form keeps offering her. That it is also funnier than it has any right to be feels almost like impertinence.

what it left me with

Healing is not a straight line to closure; it is an asymptote, approached and never quite reached. Sometimes you write three endings because none of them arrives clean, and that, precisely, is the truth.

this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
