On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous

A letter from son to mother, addressed to an audience rendered unable to receive it by circumstance and distance, wherein the writer excavates violence, tenderness, addiction, and the first stirrings of love with the precision of a poet. Ocean Vuong does not merely write sentences; he constructs them with such deliberation that each arrests the reader. The cumulative effect devastates and illuminates in equal measure.

what it left me with

We confess our truest selves to those who cannot or will not hear the confession. The utterance itself, however futile, transfigures the one who speaks it.

this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
