book review

Two orphaned sisters, reared by a peripatetic aunt in the isolation of a lakeside town, dwell within prose so exquisite it approaches the threshold of sorrow. A meditation upon transience, water, and the female figures who cannot and will not be domesticated, the novel traces what persists when settlement itself is refused.
Not all temperaments are fashioned for settlement, and the life of motion carries no mark of damage. Some souls find their true country in the restlessness of water, not in the stasis of the house.
this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
