tv review

Mae Martin’s semi-autobiographical portrait of addiction, gender and a codependent romance, funny in the manner of things scraped raw. Its sharpest observation is that love can be pressed into service as one more palliative, another elegant means of avoiding oneself.
To trade one dependency for a person is still to defer the actual work. A relationship may attend a recovery; it cannot be asked to constitute one.
this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
