film review

A linguist acquires an alien grammar that unmoors her from linear time, and she begins perceiving her whole life at once, including the daughter she knows she will lose. She chooses the joy regardless, eyes open. It was marketed as a space film; it is a study in proleptic grief wearing an exceptionally good spaceship costume.
If you could survey the entire arc, joy and loss alike, would you still consent to the good part? She does. It is the bravest act in the film, and not a single thing explodes.
this is one entry from a wandering list of films, books, shows and albums, kept by someone trying to live a slightly more deliberate life.
